REO Speedwagon retires name after final performances in Las Vegas
REO Speedwagon has officially retired its name after final performances on December 20 and 21 in Las Vegas. The decision follows disagreements among band members, leading to the end of touring for the iconic rock group. During the farewell shows, the band performed their 1980 album "Hi Infidelity" in full, along with popular hits like "Keep On Loving You" and "Can't Fight This Feeling." Frontman Kevin Cronin announced the retirement of the REO Speedwagon name but plans to continue performing under his own name. Ownership of the band was held by Cronin, Neal Doughty, and Bruce Hall. Doughty retired from touring last year, and Hall has been absent due to health issues. Cronin will debut as a solo artist in January and hopes to tour with the current band members under a new name.
