Red Lorry Film Festival opens in Hyderabad featuring classics
The second Red Lorry Film Festival started at Prasads Multiplex in Hyderabad. The event brought together film lovers, famous filmmakers, and classic movies. On the opening day, audiences enjoyed a variety of screenings and masterclasses. The festival kicked off with the 1955 Telugu classic Missamma, featuring stars N.T. Rama Rao and Savitri. Fans of Hollywood watched films like Anora and Locked, while Bollywood supporters enjoyed hits such as Deewaar and Ghatak. Ramesh Prasad, the producer and owner of Prasads Multiplex, honored his late father, filmmaker L.V. Prasad, during the inauguration. He introduced Missamma and shared stories about preserving filmmaking traditions. Casting director Tess Joseph led a masterclass on the evolution of casting in the film industry. She discussed how talent discovery has changed and the impact of globalization on storytelling. The day also included a special screening of Kshana Kshanam, a cult thriller from 1991, highlighting its influence on Indian crime dramas. Emerging filmmakers had the chance to share their experiences, with one debut director discussing the challenges of making independent films. The first day concluded with a screening of the award-winning film Chandamama. Filmmaker Krishna Vamsi and actors Shiva Balaji and Navadeep participated in a discussion about the collaboration between directors and performers.
