A 60-year-old realtor has been arrested in New Delhi for allegedly driving a shopowner to suicide. Lalit Mohan Varshney, who was 42 years old, recorded videos claiming that a financier had loaned him money, raised the interest rate, and threatened him. Varshney's wife took him to the hospital after his death on March 24. During the investigation, police found a video on his phone that included allegations against Sanjay Jain, a property dealer. The police later registered a case of abetment to suicide based on a complaint from Varshney's wife. In the video, Varshney accused Jain of threatening him and demanding increasing payments. He had taken a loan of Rs 50,000 in 2014, which spiraled into a debt of around Rs 10 lakh due to rising interest. Varshney explained his struggles, revealing he had tried to pay off the loan through various means, but the situation became overwhelming.
