Ray Meade overcomes MS to continue music career
Guitarist Raymond Meade, known for his work with the band Ocean Colour Scene, faced a challenging time after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021. He started experiencing severe pain and numbness in his hands and feet. At first, the diagnosis was overwhelming, making him fear for his future in music. Despite his initial worries about his career, Meade found hope in his diagnosis. He began treatment quickly and was determined to be part of Ocean Colour Scene's next tour. His bandmates supported him, encouraging him to focus on getting better. During their first show back, Meade felt overwhelmed with emotions but managed to perform without needing to sit down. As he adjusted to his new reality, Meade faced obstacles in songwriting. He struggled with basic tasks like holding a pen, but he worked on training his brain to regain his abilities. This hard work led to his new single, "Holy Water," released through Alan McGee's label. Now, Meade and Ocean Colour Scene are set to tour, including shows in Glasgow. Meade reflects on how far he has come, transforming his challenges into achievements as he continues to pursue his love for music.
