Ration cardholders must complete e-KYC by March 31
The Indian government has announced that all ration card holders must complete an Aadhaar-based e-KYC process by March 31, 2025. This verification will help ensure that ration distribution is fair and prevent any misuse of the scheme. E-KYC, or Electronic Know Your Customer, involves linking a person's Aadhaar card to their ration card. This process helps confirm the identity of beneficiaries and prevents fraud. If ration card holders do not complete the e-KYC by the deadline, they may lose access to their food grain subsidies under the Public Distribution System (PDS). To complete the e-KYC online, users need to visit their state's PDS website. They should look for the e-KYC option, enter their ration card and Aadhaar numbers, and verify their mobile number with an OTP. Once the information is confirmed, users will receive a confirmation message. For those who prefer to complete e-KYC offline, they can visit their local ration card office or Common Service Centre. They should bring their ration card and Aadhaar card, and verify their identity using biometric methods. After submitting their details, they will receive a confirmation slip.
