Rajasthan to re-auction mining plots due to environmental clearance non-compliance
The Rajasthan mining department will re-auction plots from owners who do not submit environmental clearance applications by January 27. Notices have been sent, but many owners have not complied. Non-compliance will lead to cancellation of mining rights. To assist mine owners, the department has set up help desks and established four expert appraisal committees to review applications. Jodhpur and Balesar have the highest number of small mines, but the review process in Jodhpur is reportedly slow. The department plans to auction 2,000 mines across various regions, including Chittorgarh and Jodhpur. These mines have been closed for a long time, and the auctions aim to create over 100,000 jobs.
