Rachel Reeves visits China to support Shein's £50 billion London listing
Chancellor Rachel Reeves is visiting China, reportedly to facilitate a £50 billion stock market listing for the fast fashion retailer Shein. This comes as Shein prepares for its London listing amid ongoing scrutiny over its labor practices. Reeves is accompanied by London Stock Exchange chief David Schwimmer and financial regulator head Nikhil Rathi. Their trip aims to gain approval from the Financial Conduct Authority and Chinese regulators for Shein's listing. Concerns about Shein's use of forced labor have been raised in Parliament. Last week, MPs questioned the company's lawyer about these allegations, but she did not provide answers.
