Queensland woman films dramatic python vs possum encounter

A young woman in Australia witnessed a dramatic snake battle in her backyard. Maddy Spinks, 25, was at home in Queensland’s Darling Downs when she heard a loud noise on her roof. She looked up to see a brushtail possum clinging to the gutter. Maddy began filming because the possum was cute. Soon, she spotted a python slithering towards the possum. Maddy was shocked and thought the encounter would end badly for the possum. She kept recording as the snake prepared to strike. In the video, you can hear Maddy gasp as the python lunges at the possum. The two animals tumbled off the roof and landed on the concrete below with a loud noise. Surprisingly, both survived the fall. The possum quickly ran into nearby grass while the snake seemed stunned and stayed on the roof for a moment. Maddy was amazed by the outcome. She noted that snakes are surprisingly resilient and can often survive falls from heights. An expert from Sydney University confirmed that while snakes can get injuries, they sometimes avoid serious harm from falls.
