Queensland faces severe flooding; Bruce Highway closed

Queensland is facing serious flood threats as record rainfall continues. While Brisbane is largely safe for now, significant weather changes are expected soon. Heavy rain has already resulted in emergency warnings for areas like Currumbin Valley and Tallebudgera. The Bruce Highway is impassable in some sections due to flooding. Flood watches are in effect for Brisbane and nearby coastal regions. The Bureau of Meteorology reported that northern Sunshine Coast areas received up to 300 millimeters of rain overnight. In Brisbane’s northern suburbs, rainfall totals reached between 100 and 200 millimeters. The Gold Coast hinterland also saw over 100 millimeters. Residents are urged to stay alert and heed warnings as conditions may worsen.
