PYFBA and San Roque Bogo win in Cebu tournament

CEBU CITY, Philippines — PYFBA and San Roque Bogo won their matches in the Cebu Youth Basketball League (CYBL) Chairman’s Cup on Saturday, March 22, at the Cebu Sports Hub. Each team’s record improved to 3-2 in their groups after the victories. PYFBA faced Salazar Colleges-Salazar Institute of Technology (SC-SIT) and won 76-71 in Group A. Khlint VJ Rosal led PYFBA with 28 points, along with six rebounds and two blocks. Xerex Alejandro, a key player, scored 21 points but had 12 turnovers. Elvis Dombasi Jr. also contributed a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. In Group B, San Roque Bogo defeated Atty. Dico 78-67. Dexter Paul Bercero had a standout performance with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Gian Casas added 14 points, while three other players scored in double figures, helping secure the win for San Roque Bogo. Atty. Dico’s Carl James Abella scored 21 points but could not lead his team to victory. In another match, PAREF Springdale ended its losing streak by beating Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) 80-73. Riche Sarmiento was the top scorer for PAREF Springdale with 26 points. Andrew Bucag added a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Despite Jacob Javelosa's 21 points for SHS-AdC, they lost the match. Both PAREF Springdale and SHS-AdC now share a record of 1-3 in Group B.
