PWD restores historic palaces to enhance tourism efforts

The Public Works Department (PWD) in Tamil Nadu is focusing on restoring historic palaces and bungalows to promote tourism. The PWD aims to transform these sites into tourist attractions, similar to successful heritage sites in the Chettinad region. Challenges include a shortage of skilled workers and rising costs, which slow down restoration efforts. The government is urged to expedite project approvals to prevent further deterioration of these historic buildings.
