Punjab schools get nine-day Eid holidays
The Punjab government has announced a nine-day holiday for schools in celebration of Eidul Fitr. Both public and private schools will be closed starting from March 28. The Minister for Education confirmed that schools would remain shut until April 7. The annual results for students will be announced on April 4. The holiday break coincides with the expected date for Eidul Fitr, which is forecasted to fall on March 31. In addition, the federal government has declared three public holidays from March 31 to April 2 for Eid. This break allows families and teachers to enjoy the festival before the start of the new academic year. In a related announcement, the Sindh government has decided to cancel holidays for transport officials during Eid. This is to prevent fare overcharging common during the festival. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that officers will monitor transport fares throughout the holiday season. He emphasized the government's commitment to preventing excessive fare charges and encouraged the public to report any issues. Authorities will respond quickly to complaints, and strict action will be taken against those who violate fare regulations.
