Pune property tax bill distribution delayed to May 1

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced a delay in its property tax bill distribution. This annual process normally starts on April 1, but it will now begin a month later due to several outstanding tasks. The property tax department is currently overwhelmed with 1.50 lakh pending PT form applications. This backlog, along with the need to implement new tax rates, has caused a significant workload for department officials. Additionally, a server issue has hindered the tax department's ability to update crucial property tax data. The deputy commissioner of the Tax Collection Department, Madhav Jagtap, explained that the server has been failing since early March, which has delayed both the uploading and the printing of the tax bills. As a result, the PMC plans to start distributing 14.25 lakh bills on May 1 instead. The bills will first be available online and will then be mailed out in the first week of May. The department has requested more time from the government to manage this delay efficiently.
