Private spacecraft Blue Ghost aims for Moon landing
Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost Mission 1 is set to attempt a lunar landing early Sunday, aiming to be the second private lander to achieve this. The spacecraft is targeting a site near Mons Latreille on the Moon. Launched on January 15, Blue Ghost carries 10 scientific instruments and is designed to operate for a full lunar day. It will capture high-definition images of a total eclipse on March 14 and a lunar sunset on March 16. Following Blue Ghost, Intuitive Machines' IM-2 mission will launch on March 6. This mission features a new lander, Athena, which includes a hopping drone to explore the Moon's surface.
