Preston man jailed for attempted rape of girl under 13 at funeral wake

Kyle Tyson, 20, was sentenced to nine years in prison for attempting to rape a girl under 13 at a funeral wake in Preston in 2022. He received six years in custody plus three years on extended licence. Tyson, formerly of Chorley, was convicted by a jury of attempted rape and sexual assault. The victim's statement described severe anxiety that forced her to stop attending school, and she said the criminal justice process forced her to relive painful experiences. Tyson was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders' Register for life and is subject to a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Detective Constable Nikki Houghton urged other victims to report sexual offences, promising police support and investigation.
