Poor eating habits harm adolescent health
Poor eating habits and sedentary lifestyles are major contributors to rising health problems among adolescents, according to a recent report. This leads to increased risks of obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and other non-communicable diseases. Dr. Sonia Gandhi highlights that irregular eating patterns, skipping meals, and increased consumption of processed foods are key factors. These habits deprive adolescents of essential nutrients, leading to both underweight and overweight conditions, and weakened immune systems. Efforts are underway to promote healthier lifestyles, including initiatives by the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. These programs focus on nutrition education, physical activity, and mental health awareness among students.
