Polokwane airport police arrested for helping undocumented immigrants evade arrest

iol.co.za —

Three Polokwane International Airport police officers were arrested Monday night for allegedly helping 46 undocumented immigrants evade arrest, facing charges of defeating the administration of justice and violating the Immigration Act. The arrests, made by the Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit and Tactical Response Team, stem from an April 17, 2025 incident on the N1 near Polokwane. After a traffic officer stopped a minibus carrying 46 undocumented foreigners, the officers took custody but never delivered them to the Polokwane SAPS as promised. Two men and one woman, aged 44 to 49, are in custody, while police continue searching for two other male officers. The suspects are scheduled to appear at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
