The Greater Chennai Police's Central Crime Branch has raided several education counselling centres over a case involving fake non-resident Indian (NRI) certificates. These certificates were allegedly used by students to gain admission to medical courses under the NRI quota. The investigation began after the Directorate of Medical Education and Research reported the submission of fraudulent NRI certificates during the 2024-2025 online MBBS counselling. The police identified multiple counselling centres in Chennai linked to the case. During the searches, authorities seized 105 incriminating documents, 19 seals, 22 computers, two pendrives, five hard disks, and mobile phones. The documents will be examined for further action.
