Point To Point Parcel closing due to business decline
Point To Point Parcel, a parcel service in Point Roberts, Washington, will close after 24 years due to declining business. Co-owner Beth Calder announced that business has dropped by 75% partly due to the ongoing U.S.-Canada trade issues. The trade war has made it difficult for the company to survive. Calder noted that while her business usually relies on Canadian customers, many are not crossing the border anymore. The political climate and tariffs have severely affected her business. Calder mentioned that the COVID-19 pandemic had also impacted sales, but the current situation is different. Many customers can cross the border freely, yet they are choosing not to. The store plans to close in April. Calder hopes to end operations respectfully and ensure all customers are informed in advance. She expressed concern about the impact of government decisions on small businesses like hers.
