Pixel phones' camera feature makes photos more vibrant

Google Pixel 8 and 9 phones include a feature called Display P3 wide gamut capture, enhancing photo colors. This feature works with the Ultra HDR format in Android 14. Display P3 offers a wider color range compared to sRGB, improving photos taken on compatible devices. Display P3 is a color space standard used in the film industry that defines a range of colors. It combines the DCI-P3 color gamut, a D65 white point, and an sRGB gamma curve. This results in more vibrant colors than the standard sRGB color space used in many other devices. To enable Display P3 on Pixel 8/9 phones, open the camera app, go to Settings, then "More settings." Toggle the switch to activate the feature. Photos taken with P3 might appear more vibrant on compatible devices, while images viewed on unsupported devices may show less color.
