Pillar collapse in Barmer kills girl, injures another

A schoolgirl has died after a tragic accident at a government school in Barmer district. The incident occurred on Saturday when the main gate pillar of a primary school in Bakana Tala village collapsed. Two girls, Vimla (10) and Meena (9), were injured. Vimla later died from her injuries, while Meena is still receiving treatment at Barmer Hospital. Local families are angry and have accused the school administration of negligence. They claim the school did not fix the damaged pillar, despite complaints from parents and villagers. After the accident, locals rushed the girls to Chauhatan Hospital for initial care. They were then referred to Barmer Hospital for further treatment. Vimla did not survive, but Meena is stable and under pediatric care. Government officials, including ADM Rajendra Singh Chandawat and district education officer Krishna Singh Mahecha, visited the site. They have taken action against two teachers, Balram Meena and Mularam, for their apparent failure to ensure the safety of the students. The grandfather of Vimla, Bhairaram, stated that the pillar had been in bad condition for a long time.
