Pelicans defeat 76ers, marking fifth straight loss

The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 112-99 on Monday night. Karlo Matkovic led the Pelicans with a season-high 19 points and eight assists. Antonio Reeves contributed 17 points, including five three-pointers. Rookie Yves Missi added 16 points and nine rebounds. Kelly Olynyk finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Keion Brooks Jr. chipped in with 10 points. New Orleans shot 43% from three-point range. Notably, star player Zion Williamson missed his third consecutive game due to a back injury. Philadelphia struggled once again without key players Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey. Justin Edwards and Jared Butler each scored 19 points for the 76ers, but the team suffered its fifth straight loss, finishing a six-game road trip with just one win. The 76ers made an effort to come back in the third quarter, reducing a nine-point halftime deficit. They shot well from three-point range at the start of the quarter but could not maintain the momentum. The Pelicans ended the quarter on a strong 16-2 run. Next, Philadelphia will play at home against Washington on Wednesday. The Pelicans will host Golden State on Friday.
