Pegatron's AI rack challenges Nvidia with AMD GPUs
Asus has unveiled a new AI rack solution at Computex, featuring 128 AMD Instinct MI350X GPUs, aiming to challenge Nvidia's dominance in the AI hardware market. This system boasts 1,177 PFLOPS of theoretical peak performance. The system, designed for high-performance AI tasks, utilizes liquid cooling and 36.8TB of total memory. It connects GPUs via 400GbE networking, unlike Nvidia's NVLink. The solution is a technology validation platform for future AMD processors. While the system's networking limits scalability compared to Nvidia, it offers a ready-to-use AI platform for OCP users. It also provides a foundation for AMD to compete in the high-performance AI market, potentially impacting Nvidia's market share.
