The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is extending its property tax payment hours. The counters will be open from 9:45 AM to 9 PM until March 28. After that, on March 29, 30, and 31, the counters will stay open until midnight. This is to help residents meet their tax obligations before the financial year ends. The last day, March 31, is also the festival of Gudi Padwa. PCMC aims to collect ₹1,000 crore in property taxes for the financial year 2024-25. So far, they have collected ₹878 crore, leaving ₹122 crore in unpaid taxes. Avinash Shinde, an assistant commissioner, said this initiative shows their commitment to serving citizens and collecting revenue on time. Senior officials are closely monitoring the process to ensure efficiency. To recover outstanding dues, PCMC plans to attach ten properties daily where arrears exceed ₹5 lakh. They have already taken action against several properties and disconnected water supplies to residential buildings with unpaid taxes.
