Patriots may select lineman Membou over Carter
The New England Patriots are preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft, where they hold the No. 4 pick. Some analysts believe they would be excited to draft standout players like Travis Hunter or Abdul Carter. However, former Jets GM Mike Tannebaum suggests the Patriots might choose a lesser-known player instead. In his latest mock draft for ESPN, Tannebaum predicts the Patriots will select Armand Membou, an offensive lineman from Missouri. He emphasizes that the Patriots need help in protecting their quarterback. Last season, the team ranked poorly in pass protection and allowed a high number of sacks. Membou is noted for his strong performance at Missouri, where he played in 36 games and started in 30. He allowed just one sack last season and showed impressive athleticism at the combine, with strong results in both the broad jump and 40-yard dash. With the recent signing of receiver Stefon Diggs, the Patriots may not prioritize drafting a receiver. Instead, they might focus on ensuring better protection for quarterback Drake Maye. Critics, however, are surprised that the Patriots would pass on a potential All-Pro player like Carter for someone viewed as less elite.
