Pardoned J6 participant protests Tesla dealership in Tennessee
William F. Beals II, a man known for his far-right beliefs, appeared at a Tesla dealership in Chattanooga, Tennessee, last weekend to oppose protests against the company. Beals, who identifies with the Three Percenters, a far-right extremist group, was pardoned by former President Donald Trump for his involvement in the January 6 Capitol attack. He filmed himself at the dealership, expressing support for consumers who want to buy cars regardless of political views. The Three Percenters view themselves as defenders against government tyranny. They have been linked to various violent incidents and conspiracy theories. Beals has a history of confrontations with left-wing activists and has described himself as a white nationalist. His online comments have included anti-Semitic remarks and threats of violence against those opposing his views. In September 2024, Beals pleaded guilty to misdemeanors connected to his Capitol activities. Prosecutors sought a harsher sentence due to his ongoing provocative behavior, but he was ultimately sentenced to probation instead of prison. Trump's pardon relieved him of this probation, allowing him to publicize his status. As protests against Tesla escalated in various cities, including instances of violence, tensions remained high. Beals claimed he was protecting Americans' rights to purchase vehicles, criticizing those protesting against Tesla. Following Beals’ public appearances, the FBI is now investigating attacks against Tesla properties. Beals has a lengthy criminal history, including previous convictions for theft and assault. Despite being a convicted felon, firearms were discovered in his home during an FBI raid. His legal issues may continue as the investigation unfolds regarding his firearms possession.
