Paramount sues screenwriter's cousin over "Maverick."

Paramount Pictures countersued Shaun Gray, cousin of "Maverick" screenwriter Eric Warren Singer, who claims he co-wrote the film's screenplay. The studio alleges Gray deliberately hid his contributions to key scenes to claim idea theft and joint ownership, accusing him of fraud and copyright infringement. Gray's lawyer states the counterclaims aim to intimidate him, while Paramount argues Gray infringed copyrights by not having a work-made-for-hire agreement.
