Panjgur protests demand release of arrested Baloch leaders
Thousands of people protested in Panjgur, Balochistan, against the arrests of leaders from the Baloch Unity Committee (BYC). They demanded the immediate release of Mahrang Baloch, Sammi Deen Baloch, and others and condemned violent incidents that occurred during the arrests. The arrests took place on Saturday at a protest camp on Quetta's Sariab Road, part of a larger movement resisting what many perceive as government repression of Baloch political activism. The BYC has called for nationwide protests, leading to rallies and strikes in various cities. Protesters in Panjgur held banners and chanted for justice, emphasizing their commitment to peaceful struggle for the rights of the Baloch people. Mahrang Baloch's family faced challenges in visiting her in custody, highlighting the emotional toll of the situation. Human rights groups have condemned the government's actions against Baloch activists, accusing it of trying to silence opposition. Despite the violence, protesters in Balochistan continue to advocate for the release of their leaders and push for greater rights and autonomy.
