Two former high school tennis players from Berks County have received honors in college tennis. Alex Pancu, a graduate of Conrad Weiser High School, was named the women's player of the week in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth. Pancu plays for Albright College and helped her team secure its 16th straight regular season win by defeating Elizabethtown 7-0. As a senior majoring in Fashion Design and Merchandising, she is on track to break the record for wins at No. 1 singles in Albright's history. Over the weekend, she did not lose a single game in both singles and doubles matches. Meanwhile, Zach Schrader, a Reading High School graduate, earned the player of the week title in the MAC Freedom. Schrader is a freshman at Lebanon Valley College and had a strong performance during the week. He won both of his singles matches. Notably, he defeated Chase Wilson, who has been a top player in the conference. Schrader also contributed to a doubles win against Messiah’s leading pair. However, he faced challenges in a later match against Catholic University, where he still managed to win one of his singles matches. Both players have shown excellent skills and are making a mark in college tennis.
