Harold Segura, the alleged mastermind behind the kidnapping of Dayra Caicedo, was killed and had an extensive criminal record including homicide and robbery. Segura, known as "El Científico," was shot on April 9th in Panama. He was previously convicted for his role in a 2006 homicide and linked to corruption within the prison system.
