SINGAPORE: More than 2.75 million Singaporeans can vote in the upcoming General Election. This is an increase from about 2.6 million voters in the last election in 2020. The Elections Department (ELD) reported that there are 2,758,095 registered voters as of February 1. The ELD has finalized the voter registers, which will be open for public inspection starting Tuesday. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong emphasized that updating these registers is an important step before the elections are scheduled. The ELD is also working on composite registers of voters. These registers will reflect new electoral divisions based on recommendations from the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC). Voters can check their registration details online through the ELD website or the Singpass app. For those unable to access the information online, they can visit community centers, ServiceSG Centres, or the ELD office. Overseas Singaporeans can check their voting details at Singapore missions abroad if they cannot do so online. In the 2023 presidential elections, around 2.7 million people were eligible to vote.
