Over 1,300 recipients of Philippine Vice President's confidential funds lack birth records, says PSA

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that 1,322 recipients of P500 million in confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President lack birth records. This represents about two-thirds of the 1,992 names submitted for verification. Only 670 of the names matched existing records. Additionally, 1,456 individuals had no marriage records, and 1,593 had no death records. The findings raise concerns about the legitimacy of the acknowledgment receipts submitted to justify the fund expenditures. House committee chair Joel Chua stated that the PSA's findings suggest possible fabrication of the records. This follows earlier investigations into a separate P112.5 million confidential fund used by the Department of Education, which also revealed significant discrepancies.
