Osaka Expo showcases women's empowerment initiatives in Japan
The 2025 Osaka Expo will focus on women's empowerment and social advancement. It begins in mid-April and features a special area called the Women's Pavilion. This pavilion is a partnership between the Cabinet Office and French luxury brand Cartier. Former Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa spoke at a Tokyo event on March 10. She encouraged women to work together to foster growth and creativity. "From that, we can start to see a new Japan," she stated. The event was part of a project called Toget-Her, which aims to promote women in leadership roles. Participants at the event shared their experiences of building networks and starting businesses after working in major companies. Toget-Her plans to host events at the Expo, including one on July 10. This event will connect female business owners from local areas to international markets. Another event will focus on diversity in executive roles to strengthen Japan's business competitiveness. A new project on corporate governance codes created by women will also be unveiled. Taiko Otsuka, a partner at Deloitte Tohmatsu Financial Advisory, emphasized the need for greater diversity in Japan. She believes that the economy will thrive if more people are allowed to shine. "We want to promote this at the expo," she said.
