Oregon's Holiday Tree Farms leads world in Christmas tree production with nearly 1 million trees sold annually
Oregon is the leading state in Christmas tree production, harvesting 4.7 million trees annually, which is 33% of the U.S. total. Holiday Tree Farms, the largest Christmas tree farm in the world, produces about 1 million trees each year. Established in 1955, Holiday Tree Farms spans 8,500 acres and employs around 600 workers during the harvest season. The farm grows various tree types, with Douglas fir being the most popular, and exports trees globally. North Carolina follows Oregon in production, with about 4 million trees harvested yearly. Nationwide, 25 to 30 million real Christmas trees are sold each year, with a significant number grown across the country.
