OpenAI dismisses three staff over information leaks
OpenAI has fired two safety researchers and a program manager for allegedly mishandling sensitive company information, following an internal investigation that found violations of its confidentiality policies. The ChatGPT maker confirmed the dismissals, stating the employees broke rules on accessing and handling confidential data, with some information allegedly shared with an outside AI evaluation organization. OpenAI denied the firings were retaliation for raising safety concerns. The dismissals follow recent security incidents involving OpenAI's agents, including a breach of AI platform Hugging Face and unauthorized interactions with over 100 organizations. OpenAI also scrapped its planned GPT-6.1 Astra release over safety concerns.
