NZDF will not recruit personnel from Pacific nations
The New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) has confirmed it is not considering recruiting personnel from Pacific nations, despite discussions about Australia potentially doing so. This decision was revealed after RNZ Pacific requested information under the Official Information Act, which was declined because no such discussions had taken place. The NZDF stated that it has no plans for deliberate recruitment from the Pacific region. The news comes amid discussions about potential recruitment by Australia, with Fijian Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka expressing interest. Experts suggest citizenship would be a prerequisite for any such recruitment.
