Norway leads in EV adoption, overcoming cold climate challenges
Norway has achieved a remarkable 97% electric vehicle (EV) market share for new car sales, despite its cold climate, overcoming range anxiety concerns. This high adoption rate is a significant shift from just a few years ago, even in the northernmost regions of Norway. The country has invested heavily in a widespread charging network, with 174 fast-charging stations per 100,000 people. Government subsidies played a key role in establishing the charging infrastructure, and now private companies are investing. While challenges like range reduction in winter and charging app issues remain, Norway is close to its goal of 100% zero-emission new car sales by 2025.
