North Korean soldiers died fighting for Russia in Ukraine

South Korean lawmakers reported that approximately 600 North Korean soldiers have died fighting in Ukraine, a consequence of their deployment to support Russia. The deaths occurred out of a total deployment of 15,000 North Korean troops, according to South Korean intelligence. In exchange for troops and weapons, North Korea has received technical assistance from Russia, including on spy satellites. North Korean troops have shown improved combat capabilities after six months of fighting, utilizing modern weaponry. The bodies of the deceased soldiers were reportedly cremated in Russia before being returned to North Korea.
