Noida's Logix Blossom County loses power over unpaid dues
Electricity has been cut to Logix Blossom County in Noida Sector 137 due to unpaid dues of ₹1.5 crore. The disconnection happened on Tuesday morning, affecting about 5,000 residents living in 2,300 flats. They are currently using diesel generator sets for power. Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) stated that the apartment owners' association (AOA) failed to respond to multiple notices about the outstanding payment. PVVNL officials said they had no choice but to disconnect power after the AOA did not settle the dues. The AOA claims they took over management of the society in January 2023 and have paid their monthly dues on time. They argue that the disconnection is due to unpaid bills from the builder, which total more than ₹90 lakh. Manoj Prasad, president of the AOA, mentioned that they have filed a writ petition in the Allahabad high court about the issue. Residents are frustrated with the situation. Many feel it is unfair for them to suffer because of the builder's failure to pay. They are concerned that power cuts will disrupt essential services like elevators, water supply, and security systems, especially affecting senior citizens and children. In response to billing issues, PVVNL is working on changing the electricity connection at Logix Blossom County from a single point to a multipoint connection. This means residents would get individual bills directly from PVVNL, bypassing the AOA or builder. So far, 400 out of 2,300 flat owners have consented to this change. PVVNL needs about 1,100 consents to move forward with the conversion, which could happen in the next couple of months. Residents hope this will lead to more transparency and prevent future disputes.
