Nobel winner shows kids' reaction to his prize in video

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

American scientist Karl Deisseroth, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute researcher and Stanford University professor, showed his children's reaction to him winning the Nobel Prize in a video shared on Stanford's Facebook page. The footage shows Deisseroth telling his two daughters and son about his achievement. The daughters immediately jumped on their father with joyful hugs, while his son repeatedly shouted "What? What?" in shock before also congratulating and embracing him. Deisseroth, who calls himself an "owl" for working past midnight, missed the Nobel Committee's call from Stockholm and learned of his win through his wife, scientist Michelle Møge-Deisseroth. He said he nearly lost his ability to speak upon hearing the news but composed himself within minutes.
