Nike Air Max 1 releases, honoring GoldenEye 007 nostalgia
Nike has announced a new sneaker called the Air Max 1 "Big Head Mode." This shoe is part of their .SWOOSH Low Poly series and pays homage to the classic video game GoldenEye 007, which was released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64. The sneaker features a colorway of "Dark Smoke Grey/White-Metallic Gold" and is priced at $160. It is set to be released in the summer of 2025. Before its official launch, the shoe was showcased in the popular game Fortnite, allowing players to wear it virtually. The design of the Air Max 1 draws inspiration from James Bond’s iconic tuxedo. The shoe has sleek black and white layers that resemble Bond's classic style. A unique boxy Swoosh adds a pixelated effect, capturing the feel of retro gaming. Golden details on the shoe reference the famous Golden Gun, a legendary weapon from GoldenEye 007. The name "Big Head Mode" comes from a popular cheat code in the game that makes character heads larger for comic effect. This release continues Nike's trend of blending gaming culture with sneaker design.
