NGT requests report on district mineral fund usage in Rajasthan

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has requested clarification from Rajasthan on how the District Mineral Fund (DMF) is being used. The state has four weeks to provide a detailed report, as concerns were raised about improper use of the fund. The NGT noted that the state did not submit details on the fund's collection and use. The case will be heard again on March 3, 2025. The applicant's counsel suggested an independent audit of the fund. Rajasthan's government stated that the DMF is managed according to established rules and that audits have been conducted regularly since 2016. The fund is intended to support areas impacted by mining activities.
