New seafarers' clubs with amenities to open at Chennai and Kamarajar ports
Chennai and Kamarajar ports will soon have new clubs for seafarers, offering various amenities. These clubs aim to provide recreational facilities directly on the port premises, eliminating the need for immigration passes to access them. Currently, Chennai Port has a Seafarers’ Club outside its boundary. The new club will include a gym, kitchen, library, dining area, supermarket, and resting rooms, with an estimated cost of ₹7 crore. Completion is expected by December. Kamarajar Port will establish its first seafarers' club, featuring additional facilities like a bar, lobby, business center, and sports courts. The construction cost is estimated at ₹10 crore, with completion anticipated by March.
