New Katai Wala Pul opens, eases Lucknow traffic
The new Katai Wala Pul bridge is ready for traffic in Lucknow. This modern bridge will replace the historic Katai Wala Pul, which has served the city for 153 years. The old bridge will soon be demolished to improve traffic flow in the area. The new two-lane bridge will help reduce congestion, which has been a long-standing issue for local commuters. As the city’s traffic has increased, the old bridge struggled to accommodate the growing number of vehicles. Once the old bridge is removed, plans will begin for another two-lane bridge to be built in phases. This demolition is also necessary to allow for the expansion of railway lines from two to four, improving train operations in the region. The construction project began in February 2022 and cost ₹ 24.50 crore. Northern Railways official Sachinder Mohan Sharma confirmed that the old bridge will be taken down in five months.
