New hero Freja to change Overwatch 2's meta
Overwatch 2's next hero, Freja, is expected to change the game's meta when she fully launches in Season 16. Gamers had a chance to play Freja from March 21 to 24 during a limited trial period. This allowed players to explore her abilities and provided developers with feedback for adjustments. Freja is designed to be a strong Damage character. Her primary weapon, a crossbow, has a fast firing rate and can quickly defeat enemies, especially weaker Support players. She also has a unique secondary ability called Take Aim, which allows her to shoot a powerful bolt while hovering in the air. This makes her effective against low-health opponents. Additionally, Freja's mobility enhances her gameplay. Her Updraft ability lets her soar into the air, attacking from above. The Quick Dash ability refreshes Take Aim, enabling her to attack repeatedly without staying grounded. This combination makes her a challenging target for other players, similar to flying hero Pharah. Freja's abilities might cause frustration for opponents who struggle against highly mobile and damaging heroes. However, Blizzard has designed her as a high-skill character, meaning only top players will fully exploit her potential. As Season 16 launches on April 22, players in Competitive matches and Quick Play should prepare for Freja's arrival and her impact on the game's dynamics.
