New hangar on Pagasa Island set for completion by year-end

A new hangar on Pagasa Island in the West Philippine Sea is nearly complete, with the Armed Forces of the Philippines reporting it is 90 percent finished. The facility is expected to be ready by the end of the year. The hangar will serve as the headquarters for the Philippine Air Force's Tactical Operations Group, overseeing air operations in the Kalayaan Island Group. This development follows military drills aimed at enhancing defense capabilities in the region. Pagasa Island is home to over 400 residents and is the largest feature in the Kalayaan Island Group. China claims ownership of the island, despite an international tribunal ruling in 2016 that dismissed its claims.
