New clinic in Rotorua offers heart and sleep tests

nzherald.co.nz

CardioScan Aotearoa has opened a new clinic in Rotorua, making it easier for residents to access heart and sleep diagnostics. The clinic began operations on March 12 and is located on Haupapa Street. Patients can now receive two important tests without needing to travel to Hamilton. The first test is a Level 2 sleep study. This study helps assess the structure of a patient’s sleep and can be done at home. The second test offered is a stress echo. This test uses ultrasound imaging to see how well a patient’s heart works under stress, like during exercise. It is particularly useful for diagnosing conditions such as coronary artery disease. According to CardioScan's general manager and sleep physiologist, Jez Morris, these services were previously only available privately in Hamilton. Now, local residents can benefit from them right in their own community.
