Netflix adapts "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo."
Fans are eagerly waiting for the film adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel, "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo," which Netflix acquired in March 2022. Since then, there has been little news on production or casting, despite growing anticipation. The story features Evelyn Hugo, a former Hollywood actress, who shares the tale of her seven marriages with journalist Monique Grant. The narrative also explores themes of same-sex relationships during the 1950s and concludes with a surprising twist. In June 2023, director Leslye Headland was announced, but she stepped down in January 2025, citing reasons for her departure. Meanwhile, Liz Tigelaar was reported as the writer, with Reid involved in production. Actress Eiza González expressed her desire to be part of the project, noting her admiration for the story. Although fans speculated about potential cast members like Ana de Armas for Evelyn and Jessica Chastain for Celia, Chastain confirmed she will not portray Celia. She expressed her appreciation for the enthusiastic fanbase.
