Nearly half of Americans feel streaming costs too high
Nearly half of Americans who pay for streaming services feel they spend too much. A recent survey by Deloitte reveals that 60% of respondents would cancel their favorite service if prices increased by just $5 a month. The average cost for subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services has risen to about $16 monthly. Many younger subscribers are opting for cheaper, ad-supported options. The survey indicates that 54% of subscribers now have at least one ad-supported tier, up from 46% last year. Premium streaming services, which often charge over $25 a month for ad-free access, may struggle to retain customers due to these high prices. Most subscribers consider $14 a month to be a fair price for ad-free subscriptions. For ad-supported services, $10 is seen as the ideal cost. As streaming prices continue to rise, many consumers are finding it harder to justify their subscriptions. This trend shows that streaming services are becoming similar to traditional cable in both pricing and offerings. Industry observers hope that this data will encourage streaming companies to reconsider their pricing strategies in the future.
