NBCUniversal targets $7 million for Super Bowl commercials
NBCUniversal is preparing for the upcoming Super Bowl LX, scheduled for next year. The company plans to charge around $7 million for a 30-second commercial spot during the event. This price may be slightly higher than what Fox asked for ads in the recent Super Bowl LIX. While Fox managed to sell some ads for $8 million, this was due to higher demand after the Super Bowl. Some sponsors even withdrew because of issues related to California wildfires. NBCUniversal has not commented on the situation. Currently, NBC is reaching out to previous advertisers from Super Bowl 2022. This gives these companies a chance to secure ad spots before NBC opens sales to new advertisers. NBC sees the Super Bowl and other major sports events as key parts of its programming strategy. Beginning in fall 2025, NBC will also start airing NBA games and will feature the Super Bowl, Winter Olympics, and NBA All-Star Game in early 2026. NBC is offering ad packages that include all three events to attract sponsors. In the past, NBC noted that advertisers who only bought Super Bowl ads missed a significant number of potential viewers from the Olympics. Meanwhile, Fox reported $800 million in ad revenue from Super Bowl LIX across various platforms, with major sponsors like Pepsi and Unilever involved. NBC is trying to create a situation where Super Bowl advertisers also commit funds for other advertising opportunities within its network.
